The Oxford on 72nd

Plaza renovation with a dramatic new canopy

The Oxford on Seventy-Second, a 191-unit condominium building on the Upper East Side, sought to upgrade its image by renovating the public plaza in the front and replacing the canopy which cuts through it.  Fradkin & McAlpin's solution is a dramatically illuminated 80-foot steel and glass canopy, which gradually slopes upward from the building entrance to a 15-foot cantilever over the sidewalk.  The plaza and building entrance were fully renovated as well, with new pavers, planters, lighting, and entry doors and glazing.

The residents are thrilled with the modern and striking new canopy, which has completely transformed the building's exterior.
