After the Brooklyn Brewery acquired a 20,000-square-foot ironworks-turned-matzoh factory in the borough’s Williamsburg neighborhood, Fradkin & McAlpin developed a plan unusual for its complexity of uses: brewery, warehouse, corporate headquarters, and events venue. In fact, the design was instrumental in helping the clients secure funding for the project. White paint was stripped from the brick walls and oak beams, with the stubborn bits left in testimony to history. Contemporary constructions, including high-tech brewing equipment and an elliptical stairway to the second-floor offices, express the company's of-the-moment spirit. Today, the building is a well-loved Brooklyn gathering space and has not only accommodated the company’s robust growth but also inspired it.
